- facts: The client was investigated to determine whether the State would file formal Child Abuse charges against him in Tampa, Florida. According to a police report the client pushed his sister, and when she tried to defend herself he took off his belt and began beating her. Shortly after Child Protective Services arrived law enforcement also appeared on scene. Law enforcement attempted to take a statement from our client, but he contacted our office before the meeting took place. We ultimately learned that the victim did not call the police to report the child abuse. According to reports her girlfriend noticed marks on her back when she was changing into her bathing suit. The girlfriend told her father, and he called police. We later found out that the father had called the police and made the same allegation against a different parent months before.
